Good evening, this week cultural place Roest Amsterdam it is all about the Olympus Playground. This is a temporary photo exposition in the East of Amsterdam where you can rediscover the art of photography. Last Thursday I got the chance to check out this playground as one of the first visitors. When you visit this exposition you can try out different kind of camera’s (included the Olympus PEN E-PL7) in various settings.
Of course I brought my own Olympus PEN E-PL7 and tried to take some pictures. I mostly use my camera for outfit photography but this playground gave me a totally different perspective. I decided to try out the art filters (which I also tried during my trip to Hamburg). I already told you in my latest post that with this function you can automatically use different kind of filters. You already choose a filter before you take the picture and this is super handy. So you don’t need to edit the picture anymore. Just put the filter function on, make the picture, use WIFI to transfer it to your mobile and post it online. I decided to try some filter functions in the beginning of the exposition and below you can see the result. I really like the three filters: Cross Process, Grainy Film, Gentle Sepia and Vintage. Which picture do you like the most?
Besides the filters I want to show you the differences between my two lenses which I brought to the playground. As I told you before I really like to use my 75MM lens, it really gives the picture that blurry effect. However I never use the 75 MM in the crowd, during this kind of events I prefer the 45 MM lens. When you use the 45 MM lens the distance between object and photographer is smaller than when you use the 75 MM lens. Easy to say, it is not easy to make pictures with a 75 MM in the crowd. Anyway this time I brought the pencake lens and 45 MM lens and below you can see the differences between the lenses. When the photographer took these pictures she was at the same distance but only used a different lens. To be honest with you I like the 45 MM lens more, but in the end the pancake lens is super easy to use for quick pictures as you probably make every day.
All in all I had a great time and learned a lot by visiting this playground. Besides that I hope I also gave you some extra information about the camera and the functions of it. If you have questions, tips or something please let me know in the comments below. Oh and if you want to know more please read my two latest blog about this camera here and here. Enjoy your day! Love X
